Remember the days when people used to wear watches to keep a check on time and day? Not that watches are out-of-fashion now but they have kind of moved out of the scene since mobile phones have come in. Fossil, a famous watch-maker brand, wants to revive the old trend by helping phones and watches play together in a friendly environment.

A team at Fossil is specially working on building a watch that will connect with your Android or Blackberry phone over bluetooth and show information directly on the watch-screen such as number of unread text messages on your phone, number of unread Gmail messages, missed-call alerts etc.

As revealed by the vice president of Fossil watch technology, Bill Gesier, the company is already working on such small devices and is trying to learn from where SPOT failed. The idea of using such a device is so that one can take a quick peek over what information is available on the phone and also use it in conditions such as rain, snow, driving etc without having to take the phone out of the pocket.
The Fossip concept ‘connected’ watches will be available for $200 and will be programmable so Android/Blackberry developer can connect info from their applications to these devices over bluetooth.
